Book Signing - George Harbeson, Jr.

George Harbeson, Jr. will be here to sign and discuss "Shadowed Times", his new book of Alaska Short Stories, a finalist for the Brighthorse Book Prize for Short Fiction.

From the cover: These Alaska short stories weave in and out of the shifting shadows and interlacing light cast by colliding cultures, by loss and loneliness, by redemption and hope, by dreams and nostalgic reminiscences -- people coming of age, drifting apart, joining together -- all rooted in the Alaskan natural landscape.

George came from a homesteading family in the Knik/Wasilla area of Alaska. His short story "Simeon's Anipaq" won the 1990 Grand Prize in the UAA/Anchorage Daily News writing contest and was published in the North Dakota Quarterly. George taught in the rural Alaskan communities of Selawik, Kivalina, Noorvik, Emmonak, Alakanuk, and Anchor Point.
